G.R.A.W Review

Ahhhh, GRAW. Same old ghost recon game-play with mega upgraded visuals. Let me start the review with the single player game. I should come right out and say that I never liked any of the other Ghost Recon games. I don't even like most "realistic" shooters. What I couldn't get into in GRAW was the squad-based game-play. Managing your squad is like a buzz-kill in this game. The controls , while streamlined, are just chunky and cut right into the fast paced high tension game-play that you might have been looking for. When you play the co-op campaign over XBL the chunky menus are gone, replaced with your friends, and the game works as a very strategic modern combat shooter. The only problem is there are only four stages playable in the campaign via XBL co-op. That's the kicker. Why would you do that as a game manufacturer? The only reason being you we're pressed to get the game released on a time-table and some extras had to get cut. They could always release them later in the form of a content download, but if I paid $60 why wouldn't I get all the best features up front? I guess I'm a little bitter being this was the only part of the game that I really got into.
My rating: 6.75 / 10. The visuals are just awesome. Very real environments with textures that are very real. The online component is well put together (unlike Call of Duty 2) with many game variations to choose from (with bots!). the co-op is a blast , but cut short for whatever shitty reason. All in all not a bad game, but those sales figures I have seen for Ubi-soft are padded due to the lack of games available for the 360. That's what led me back to a series that I had already written off, I just needed something new for my 360.
